Before moving ahead, first, you need to check,404 page not found is set by default in your Magento 2 store.

Step 1: Check the Default Settings

  • From the Admin Panel, go to Stores > Settings > Configuration

  • From the left pane, enlarge the General tab and select Web

  • Expand the Default Pages option. Move to CMS No Route Page field.

3.Default Page

It is recommended not to change the default settings of the configuration. But if you wish to change so that the 404 page redirects the customers to any other page of your website, you can select the preferred option from the drop-down list.

Now, we can initiate to set up a custom 404 page in Magento 2.

Step 2: Set up Custom 404 Page in Magento 2

  • Navigate to Content > Elements > Pages

  • Move to 404 Not Found page and open it in Edit mode

5.Edit Page

  • Expand the Content option. You can add the Content Heading and body of your 404 page. It provides the option to add links, tables, numbered lists, bulleted lists, and images.

6.Content

Add the below code into the content section of your 404 page.

  • At last, click the Save button.

That’s it. Your custom 404 page not found is now created as per your requirements.
