Google August 2024 Core Update

Google August 2024 core update

Google has released its August 2024 core update, which will take at least a month to roll out fully for its users.

However, it is not just a mere core update, as it has focused on the most commented feedback on Google since their September 2023 content update, which had a significant negative effect on numerous independent and small publishers.

Share more views about this core update, Google’s Search Advocate, John Mueller, commented,

  • “We have launched our Google Search August 2024 Core Update. This core update is designed to focus on our work, which is to improve our search results quality by ranking that content that is genuinely useful for our users and instead of the content which was developed with the intent of just getting ranked on the search.”

As stated above, Google’s main aim in releasing this update is to promote useful content to people from the small and indie press after the search engine platform noticed the feedback since their March 2024 core update release.

Furthermore to this, Google’s Search Advocate also added;

  • “The recent update reflects the input we’ve received from creators and others in recent months. Our goal is to provide users with access to a variety of high-quality websites, including smaller, independent ones that produce valuable, original content related to relevant search queries. We are committed to further addressing this area in upcoming updates.”

Update Guidance. Along with this, Google has also made updates to its help page regarding core updates, providing more detailed guidance for individuals who may experience changes following an update.

Future plannings. Google has indicated that a core update is forthcoming, which follows increasing concern and apprehension among many publishers regarding the upcoming changes.

Got Stuck Somewhere? When negatively affected by a core update, Google has provided some guidance. Specifically, Google hasn’t offered any new advice, but it does recommend considering several factors.

  • There are no precise steps to recover from a drop in rankings, and this drop might not necessarily indicate issues with your pages.
  • In response to sites impacted by core updates, Google has presented a list of questions to ponder.
  • Google mentioned a potential small recovery between core updates, with the most significant changes expected after another core update.

In a nutshell, focus on developing content that is helpful for users and not for getting higher rankings on search results.

Google’s Advised. Creators do not need to make any specific changes for this update as long as they already produce high-quality content for their audience. However, for those who may not be ranking as well, Google encourages them to consult the “creating helpful, reliable, people-first content” help page for guidance.
