How to Transfer Domain to Shopify?

Transfer Your Domain to Shopify

Step 1 –

Visit a third-party domain provider and buy a domain.

To learn how to buy a domain from a third-party domain provider.

Step 2 –

Go to

Shopify admin → Settings → Domains → Transfer Domain

Step 2 –

Enter the purchased domain name that you want to transfer.

Step 3 –

Enter the authorization code that you will get from an email sent by the platform where you purchased your domain.

Please note

Some domain providers call this code as EPP code.

Step 4 –

After entering the code, you can start the transfer.

And done. Your domain is transferred to Shopify within no time.

Points to Remember While Transferring Domain to Shopify

Before transferring a domain to Shopify, there are important things to keep in mind to ensure a smooth process and successful transfer.

  • Your purchased domain must be qualified to transfer to Shopify.
  • The domain should be registered for more than 60 days.
  • You must pay for 12 months to register your domain on Shopify.
  • You should have access to the third-party domain provider account and email address.
  • You must be attentive to all the emails and notifications from the third-party email provider.
  • Your Shopify store must have third-party email hosting as the platform no longer provides email hosting services for your registered email address.
  • The server name of the domain will be unchanged even after transferring the domain.
