How To

Magento 2: Check if the Current Area is Frontend or Backend

Hello Magento Friends,

Today I am going to explain Magento 2: Check if the Current Area is Frontend or Backend. In case you missed our previously published tutorial, How to Override Core Plugin Method in Magento 2.

Sometimes the developer needs to apply functionality based on area, like only for the backend or only for the frontend. At that time they need to know the current area of Magento 2. Find out the current area of Magento 2 by implementing the below steps.

Steps to Check if the Current Area is Frontend or Backend in Magento 2:

Step 1: Create a file in your block class

app\code\Vendor\Extension\Block\Getareacode.php

Now use the below code

<?php
namespace Vendor\Extension\Block;

use Magento\Framework\App\State;
use Magento\Framework\View\Element\Template;
use Magento\Framework\View\Element\Template\Context;

class Getareacode extends Template
{
    protected $state;
    public function __construct(Context $context, State $state array $data = [])
    {
        parent::__construct($context, $data);
        $this->state = $state;
    }
    public function getArea()
    {
        return $this->state->getAreaCode();
    }
}
?>

Conclusion:
