7 sales Techniques You can’t Miss to Boost Ecommerce sales

If you run a business that sells online in any way, then finding ways to boost those online sales has to be a priority – the more you sell, the more profit you will make and the more successful you will be. It’s a simple formula, but it’s one that works. Recently We have also shared an article on 7 Ways to Boost Conversion on Your E-commerce Product PagesThe key, of course, is making more sales to begin with, and it’s this part that many business owners struggle with it.

In this article, We have covered the best sales techniques that can help to boost your eCommerce sales. There are some relatively simple ways to change the way you are working to ensure that you gain more online sales; you can choose the ones that you know will work best for you and your skills.

1.Have A Great Website

One of the worst things you can do when you are selling online is to have a terrible website. It would be like having a shop that is messy, dirty, and disorganized; no one wants to enter. In order to build a great website, you can hire graphics designer or web designer to create one for you, letting them know exactly what it is you want and checking them every step of the way.

Alternatively, if you enjoy computing and you have the necessary skills, you can create your own website. A master of computer science will help you here, as you will understand more about what is required. You will need to be sure of your skills if you are going to build the website yourself as if you don’t get it right, you will lose sales. On the other hand, you may use a website builder that will make this process much easier. Web building advisors recommend Wix and GoDaddy as the best website builders, but it doesn’t mean they’re the best fit for you. In the end, it’s crucial to have a website that looks good and is simple to navigate, or potential customers will quickly click away. It should be professional, sleek, and simple. It should also be secure so that people know they can buy safely from you.

2.Use Honest Sales Copy

The more exact your sales copy is on your website, the more sales you will make, even if you’re saying that whatever it is you’re selling isn’t going to solve all of your customers’ problems. It’s easy to go to town when writing product descriptions, but if you are promising things that the products and services you are selling just cannot do, then you will lose sales. People might buy to start with, but once they realize you’ve not been truthful, they may well want their money back, and that can be disastrous for any business.

Be honest from the start. Not only will this be refreshing for customers who will go on to trust you implicitly, but it will also reduce the chances of anyone finding fault with what you are selling.

3.Use Ads

If you have a website that you’re selling through, then you will have space to host advertisements. They don’t have to be intrusive; just a banner at the top or to the side of your webpage will be excellent. You’ll receive revenue each time someone clicks through and buys using these ads so that they can be a useful additional income stream. It’s essential to only host ads that your customers are going to want to look at and ensuring that you’re not hosting any advertisements that might offend or – potentially worse – that compete with what you sell.

4.Show The Trust Signals

It’s hard for customers to know who to trust these days – there are so many scammers and dishonest people and websites out there. If your site is relatively new and people aren’t sure what you are like and whether to trust you or not, they might shy away from your site and use a bigger, more well-known one instead (even if that means they are spending more money).

It’s therefore vital to set out trust signals on your website. One of the ways you can do this is to show customer feedback and testimonials. If other potential customers can see that people have used your site and are happy with the service and products they received, they will feel more comfortable buying from you and, ultimately, you will sell more.

5.Create A Sense Of Urgency

Although you do always need to be honest as we’ve discussed above, that doesn’t mean you can’t add a sense of urgency to your copy and website, pushing people towards buying from you there and then, rather than allowing them to go away and think about their purchase; when this happens, it can be hard to get them back.

In order to create this sense of urgency, you can:

  • Offer a time-sensitive discount offer free shipping if they buy now
  • Give them a discount on their next purchase if they buy within a certain amount of time.
  • Make sure to note stock levels so the customers know if they are low and thinks they might miss out.

6.Give A Money-Back Guarantee

It can be a daunting prospect to give a money-back guarantee with your online sales, but it will also work wonders at boosting your purchases, so it should be considered at least. If a customer is risk-averse and they are unsure about buying from you because they don’t know what the outcome might be, offering a money-back guarantee, ideally one free of any conditions (if possible) is an excellent way to sway them towards buying. They will know they have nothing to lose, and if your products and services are right (and described honestly) then this is true; they do have nothing to lose. You, however, will have gained a customer, and that is important.

7. Don’t Give So Much Choice

Sometimes people don’t buy because there is simply too much choice on the website they are looking at. This many seems strange. Surely the more products you have, the more chance there is of someone finding what they want and buying from you? This is not how it works. Too much choice can lead to customer indecision, and that can lead to them walking away without buying anything.

Over to you!

It’s far better to offer as few choices as you can while still showing a range of products. Only have the very best on your site and not only will you find customers are happier to use your website and buy from you, but you will also find you make more profit – the better the quality of what you are selling, the better the profit margins will be.
