Going on trips will help to stay away from professional life, give a mental-health break and enjoy the scenic view around you.

Let me take you on our journey.

Spot Selection Stage

It had been a year since we went on a trip. We all needed a break from the work pressure and the pandemic. According to our tradition, we go on a trip on winter days. Following that, it was that time of the year again.

But, the first question that arises is where to go? Rann of Kutch, Imagica, Goa, Saputara, Udaipur, Jaisalmer, Mount Abu, and more were added to the list. Out of which Mount Abu and Udaipur won the election.

Hence, Mount Abu and Udaipur were our prime destinations for this year’s trip.

Exploring Mount Abu Hill Station

We started our journey from Bhavnagar to Mount Abu at night. Early in the morning, we reached Abu hill road. The curvy narrow road of Mount Abu hill was astonishing. We rolled down the windows to experience the greenery, high mountains, clouds, cool breeze, and fresh air. As it was time for the dawn we stopped on the hill to capture the beautiful sunrise with our eyes and camera both.

By reaching our hotel in Mount Abu, everyone quickly headed to their rooms to get ready for the day we were going to spend in the beautiful landscape of Rajasthan – Mount Abu. Before we went sightseeing, morning tea and breakfast were waiting for us.

Arbuda Devi Temple

The first place we visited was Arbuda Devi Temple. It is a cave temple on the Aravalli mountain ranges. We reached the temple with a difficult climb of 365 stairs. Finally, we took the blessings of Goddess Durga by crawling into a narrow cave. The entire Mount Abu was seen from the top of the temple. The mountain breeze was soul-soothing. We were not allowed to take the cameras in the temple premises, so we couldn’t capture but the view is stored in our eyes forever.

Somnath Mahadev Temple

Then we moved to Somnath Mahadev Temple. It is located in the lush green forest of Mount Abu surrounded by plantations and trees. It was a calm and peaceful place. Near the temple is a pond where we enjoyed feeding the fish and watching the aquatic snakes. The main attraction we witnessed here was the paintings in the temple. The paintings of Nandi and Shivling on the temple ceiling can be seen from every angle. The temple is covered with mountains and forest which became our photography spot.

Dilwara Temples

Dilwara Jain Temple was our next destination. Its extraordinary architecture left us fascinated. We experienced the serenity of the temple and a connection with the ultimate power. It is one of the renowned Jain Temples in India.

Then it was time for a delicious lunch, and we came back to our hotel. After lunch, everyone took a small nap and we went again to explore Mount Abu.

Guru Shikhar

The highest point of the Aravalli Range, Guru Shikhar is situated 1722 m above sea level. The trek of Guru Shikhar was thrilling and the view was jaw-dropping. We were enjoying the beauty and chill wind. Everyone was shivering to the ribs due to the cold. We savored hot maggie and tea in this foggy weather to feel warm. Reaching the peak there was a temple of Guru Dattatreya and a huge bell on the entrance. The chimes of the bell marked our presence on the peak.

Nakki Lake Market

Roaming around Abu market is one of the must things to do when you visit there. The wide collection of Rajasthani and Gujarati textiles, decorative items, woollen items, jewellery, sarees, and wooden items was impressive. We filled our bags with the items of our choice and headed back to our hotel tired but happy.

Reaching the hotel we had yummy Chinese cuisine for dinner. After that, it was Garba time. How can we miss it, right? Thereafter it was time to have some rest in the night. The next morning after having breakfast, we departed for Udaipur.

HaldiGhati – Land of Bravery

Maharana Pratap Museum

On our way to Udaipur, we visited Maharana Pratap Museum, Haldighati. It is a historic site depicting the battle of Maharana Pratap and Akbar. We acquired knowledge about the life of Maharana Pratap and the historical battle that took place at this location. It was worth visiting!

Thereafter, we had a mouth-watering lunch and again we sat back on our journey to Udaipur.

Exploring City of Lakes – Udaipur

We reached our hotel in Udaipur and after some time we stepped out for sightseeing in Udaipur.

Fatehsagar Lake

We reached Fatehsagar Lake – the soulful waterbody and observed the beautiful sunset. When viewed from the height the lake offers the view of the Indian Map. The relaxing atmosphere at the lakeside, calm waters, birds swimming and the shades in the sky were alluring.

Maharana Pratap Memorial

We walked to Maharana Pratap Memorial situated beside the Fatehsagar Lake. It depicted the tribute to Maharana Pratap. We learned about the history of Kumbhalgarh and Chittorgarh through paintings in the memorial. It also had a huge statue of Maharana Pratap with his horse Chetak.

We returned to our hotel in Udaipur and had a scrumptious Gujarati dinner. Then the whole night was ours. The hotel rooms were noisy with our yelling and laughter. Uno cards were the star that night.

The next morning we packed our bags and it was time to return back to our town after having an authentic south Indian breakfast.

Return to Bhavnagar

It was a whole day’s journey from Udaipur to Bhavnagar. On the way, we stopped at Shamlaji Temple at the Gujarat-Rajasthan border. Lunch and dinner were arranged on the go. The returning back journey was filled with games like dumb charades and antakshari. Everyone sang at its peak and our antakshari had no end.

Finally, we were fully charged up and refreshed. It was an unforgettable trip with lots of memories for all of us.
